AGALLOCH - Complete New Album/West Coast Tour Imminent
Pacific Northwest dark metal legends AGALLOCH have completed work on their fourth full-length entitled “Marrow Of The Spirit”, the follow-up to 2006’s “Ashes Against The Grain”.


Where the three predecessors to “Marrow Of The Spirit” (namely “Pale Folklore”, “The Mantle”, and the aforementioned “Ashes Against The Grain”) all differ from each other, the same can be applied with the new album as “Marrow Of The Spirit” is unlike anything AGALLOCH have ever produced before. This is also the first album to feature new AGALLOCH drummer Aesop Dekker (also in Profound Lore acts LUDICRA and WORM OUROBOROS) and features guest appearances by cellist Jackie Perez Gratz (GRAYCEON, GIANT SQUID, ASUNDER, AMBER ASYLUM), Jeffrey Neblock (VINDENSANG), and Nathan Carson (WITCH MOUNTAIN, TWO-TON BOA, SUNN 0)))).

Recorded and mixed on analog through the means of exquisite vintage gear within the months of July and August in Portland, Oregon at Audible Alchemy Studios with (FAUST guitarist) Steven Wray Lobdell and mastered and manifested in San Francisco, California at Trakworx Studios with Justin Weis (LUDICRA, SLOUGH FEG, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE) the six time-stretching songs that encompass “Marrow Of The Spirit” each come across as their own distinct identities amongst themselves. At over an hour in length, “Marrow Of The Spirit” is AGALLOCH’s darkest, bleakest, most dense, detailed and aggressive album to date and in turn is the most accomplished album of their career.

Fire Destroys European Relapse Records Office And Warehouse

This e-mail is to inform you that the European Relapse Records office and warehouse was destroyed last night by a fierce fire.

The fire broke out around 5AM this Wednesday morning and reduced the warehouse and office to ashes, together with several other companies and houses. No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet unknown, and is under investigation by local authorities.

Label operations will continue, and further updates will follow.

Notícias dos Shining (NOR)

We're happy to announce our big show at Rockefeller, Oslo (NOR) 3rd November! Special guest will be the mindblowing (and epilepsy generating) Norwegian band KILLL, with members from Jaga Jazzist, Single Unit, No Place To Hide and JR Ewing.

We will be recording the concert with 6 cameras for our live dvd, and we will sure it will be a very special and memorable evening!

- Did you have a good time at the studio?
All in all it´s been a long way to go, but now the album is recorded and mixed.
To me, the Tidalwave Studio is still the perfect location to record an album.
Beside that Patrick Damiani always offers full dedication and heart to every single detail.
As we know each other for quite a long time now, also beside the music, to me it´s
easier to explain my thoughts and ideas.

- Why did you decide to record at Tidalwave Studio again?
I´ve to say that I am not into entering the studio at all in general. It´s not my cup
of tea, I don´t like to be away from home and everything I know here. Beside that it´s
somehow strange to be forced to create music "here and now", as creating music to me
is something different, that cannot be forced. That´s why it´s so important to have
someone like Patrick there. He´s connected to the music, able to motivate and to
give impulses. I am used to leave the studio here and then, just to do what I feel to,
to be for myself. That´s also why it´s important to work with people who are able to
cope with that. Apart from that, and the friendship, it´s also of course the quality
of the equipp Tidalwave Studio offers.

- What´re the differences compared to former recordings?
We tried to include much more real instruments instead of using samples, same
goes for percussions. It did cost quite some time, and this time we missed
in the end. We worked until the budget was gone, a little amount of money I
was able to invest myself, too, and Patrick worked hours and hours every day
for free. The main difference must be that we had to work faster and faster,
time gave us preasure. 12-15 hours a day were nothing unusual.

- What do you think about the songs? Are you satisfied with the result?
Regarding the sound we managed to create something really nice, I guess.
´Though we had to include a bunch of different elements, like on "Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty",
this time we were able to give more space for bass and guitars nevertheless.
It´s always hard to find a balance between the metal elements, and the more
fragile components like acoustic guitars for example. Moreover if you do not
have the time needed to work on every detail during the mixing.
Musically the new album combines elements, which could be compared to
the "Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty" album, with something own, and it´s somehow a
finalization.

- When is the album going to be released?
Unfortunately I cannot say, it depends on Napalm Records.
As far as I know, they plan a release in january 2011.

- Are there any plans for the upcoming future of Falkenbach already?
First of all I to wait and see when Napalm Records is going to release this album.
Beside that there are some ideas and plans, for example preparations for the
possible Falkenbach live shows in 2011. It´s also possible that new material can
be expected much earlier this time. But on the other hand, the contract with
Napalm Records ends with this new album now, and I´ve to see how things will
develop.
