"Relapse Records has announced the signing of the newly formed THE HIGH CONFESSIONS. The band features in its ranks Chris Connelly (MINISTRY, REVOLTING COCKS, KILLING JOKE), Steve Shelley (SONIC YOUTH), Sanford Parker (MINSK, NACHTMYSTIUM, BURIED AT SEA), and noted recording engineer Jeremy Lemos (SMOG, STEREOLAB, JIM O'ROURKE).

THE HIGH CONFESSIONS will release its Relapse debut, "Turning Lead Into Gold With The High Confessions", this summer. Audio samples will be made available shortly, with more information to be announced soon."

We have completed work on our new EP, entitled “Tides”. “Tides” is comprised of two tracks; “Atlantic Light” (15:45) and “The Weight of All” (19:45). Inspiration was drawn almost entirely from the power and energy of the Atlantic Ocean. The product is what we believe to be our ‘darkest’ material yet. Perhaps this may also be attributed to it being the first material we have written and recorded in winter (and a particularly harsh one).

Tides will be released in April via Burning World records on both cd & vinyl. The vinyl will be presented on 180g wax in a deluxe gatefold package, and the first 100 copies will include a limited photo-booklet featuring photography by James Kelly.

The cd version will be available April 1st, the vinyl version a month later but will be available on the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg where we will perform.

An audio sample will be made available soon.

Madder Mortem, Norway’s darlings of the avant-garde, unearth a new box of treasures with their forthcoming EP, Where Dream & Day Collide, set for release May 2010 now available to pre-order from the Peaceville store.

The EP contains 3 brand new songs from the Madders’ warped imaginations, along with the single & album versions of the title track, taken from the sublime 2009 release EIGHT WAYS; a dynamic journey through jazz, prog, metal, & numerous musical anomalies in between.

Artwork appears courtesy of Christian Ruud, who, along with Kim Holm & the people at Toxic, is responsible for the breath-taking visuals on the suitably mysterious Where Dream & Day Collide video which also features on the CD. See the video in all its glory below.

On next May 17th, progressive metallers Cynic will release a brand new EP entitled Re-Traced, including reinterpretations of four songs from the critically acclaimed Traced in Air album, as well as a previously unreleased song. Watch the video teaser below.

"Re-Traced is an experiment for us - an opportunity to turn four songs from Traced in Air inside out and to share something new", comments frontman Paul Masvidal. "In our exploration, we've created music that is part "sci-fi prog folk", part psychedelic rock, part minimalist restraint. These interpretations feel channeled from another galaxy. For the most part the tunes reference some of our favourite musical forms and in our own curious way (electronic/ambient, jazz/fusion, drum n' bass, experimental, shoegaze). There is no vocoder, no traditionally busy Cynic riffs that are some of our most signatures sounds, but the music retains its song structure, integral melodic sense, harmony and lyrical inspiration."

About the new song: "It is entitled "Wheels Within Wheels" and it is the most rock/metal tune on the EP. Mood-wise it has a melodic optimism that is a bit more transparent than in other Cynic songs, giving it a unique and emotive color. We are really pleased with the performances and energy of this track. Considering this song is perhaps the closest reference to a familiar Cynic sound, it still leaves behind many of the former trademarks and introduces a new shade of groove and dynamic. Progressive music has many faces, and that is always the name of the game for Cynic: re-inventing ourselves and pushing our own musical boundaries for ourselves and our fans."

Inquisition are scheduled to be in the studio on March 11, 2010 in Los Angeles, Ca. to begin the recording of their 5th full-length studio album. The title has been released, and will be "Ominous Doctrines of The Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm". More information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Also, don't forget that Hells Headbangers Records will be releasing a re-issue of Inquisition's debut full-length album "Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult" from 1998. This will be available as a deluxe digipak CD, as well as a double LP; both with better sound quality than the original. The re-issue will also include new album art done by the mastermind who created art for Inquisition in the past, Antichrist Kramer.
