And it's one of my favourites. Er… I'll say the same thing about Shining…

RC: Yes. I think it's… Sure, I very well know what he did and all that, I'm speaking about his music, obviously. But that's truly the kind of bands I really like because, in Shining, the emotions are really very, very strong. It's the opposite of Dimmu Borgir. I'll tell you, acoording to me there are two main kinds of metal: there's Dimmu Borgir, and there's Shining. And all that is on Shining's side, I like.

O novo álbum dos Trap Them...



O dia quinze de Março marca a saída de Darker Handcraft (cuja capa está presente acima, desenhada por Justin Bartlett), o terceiro álbum de originais dos Trap Them. Produzido por Kurt Ballou, guitarrista dos Converge, este disco traz desde logo uma novidade: Chris Maggio (ex-Coliseum) é o baterista definitivo dos americanos, depois de uma experiência bem sucedida na gravação do EP Filth Rations (2010). Maggio torna-se, assim, o primeiro drummer fixo dos Trap Them – que, em quase dez anos de carreira, já tiveram seis bateristas.

Com o selo da Prosthetic Records, Darker Handcraft sucederá ao aclamado Seizures in Barren Praise (2008), álbum que os atirou definitivamente para a linha da frente dos grandes nomes da cena hardcore/crust/grind.

E, para adocicar definitivamente a boca dos que aguardam ansiosamente por Darker Handcraft, fica aqui uma das faixas da nova bomba dos rapazes de Seattle, intitulada The Facts:

Barghest (Baton Rouge) has recently finished our debut album. Formed in 2007, we have only just started to gain momentum to record a full length and open for bands like Horna. This will be the first non split or compilation release from us. It will be out shortly on LP from Gilead Media. Although the label has focused on more of the post rock/folk inspired branch of black metal, we feel this will be a good way to turn on fans to a more raw and hateful, traditional style of the genre. The label's great work with sludge/doom band Thou was also a factor, as 2 of the 4 members of Barghest are founding members of Thou. A tape and CD version will also be out soon, with more details as they arise. Right now we would love you guys to listen to rough versions of the tracks and tell us what you think. Were also looking for promotional opportunities like interviews, reviews, etc.. Also interested in anyone wanting to work together in any way. Here is a link to the unmastered tracks:

Agente Infiltrado: Buraka Som Sistema gravam com Igor Cavalera (ex-Sepultura)

O Agente Infiltrado continua à caça de novidades. A edição do álbum que sucederá a Black Diamond está prevista para este ano.

Batida forte é o que não vai faltar no próximo disco dos Buraka Som Sistema. Igor Graziano Cavalera, que fez carreira nos Sepultura, gravou duas participações para o novo álbum do grupo, previsto para este ano. Não há garantias de que ambos os temas - percussão e não só - venham a ser incluídos, mas um é bastante provável. As gravações decorreram no Brasil.

Fora dos Sepultura desde 2006, Igor divide-se atualmente entre o "barra pesada" Cavalera Conspiracy, com o irmão Max - que promete o segundo disco para este ano - e MixHell, um projeto de DJ com a sua mulher Layma "mais aberto" à eletrónica e hard beat. Mesmo à medida do kuduro da Buraka, que Igor debita vigorosamente ("Yah" em especial) a par de Iron Maiden ou Jane's Addiction... É esperar pela pancada!

DM: OK. On the other hand, what's your opinion about white metal?

RC: Well, white metal is not something that I have studied in depth. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that it is a minor trend in the metal scene, and mostly localized in the US, Australia, that kind of countries, where these creeds are the majority, let's face it. After that, what's behind white metal? If that's people who say "we play music to convert 'infidels'", well, I think it's a bit… I don't like this approach. Because, for me, music must stay first and foremost Art, that is, something artistic, aesthetic… And if music gives way to a too strong message, well it's propaganda if you ask me. And that is true for those trve Satanists, too. I mean, if a black metal band's goal is to preach about Satan, and not making music, well according to me, it's sure it'll be lame music-wise, because down to the core, you are an artist, not a politician. You can be a committed artist, but that's something else, I believe you have to…

O: Define an order of priority?

RC: Yes, exactly. I consider that an artist's goal is to create beauty…

DM: Yes…?

RC: Of course! Well, after that, not everyone might agree about the definition of beauty, but that's another debate… What is beautiful for someone is not so for someone else, but there's beauty in Metal for me, or else I wouldn't listen to it.
