Rob Halford: "nunca quis sair do Judas Priest"
Em uma entrevista reveladora com Orpheus Spiliotopoulos, editor-chefe do Metal-Temple.com, para a revista Rock Hard Magazine, o frontman do JUDAS PRIEST, Rob Halford disse tudo desde o momento que ele deixou o Priest no começo dos anos 90 (e as razões que realmente o levaram a isso) até sobre o álbum novo da banda que já está pra sair, Nostradamus.
Aqui está um trecho da entrevista.
Pergunta: Na próxima edição vai ter um grande artigo sobre o Judas Priest, principalmente focado em você. Foi perguntado a muitas pessoas importantes do mundo do metal a opinião sobre a história toda do Judas em 90 com você se separando etc. Um dos autores mais renomados no mundo da música. Martin Popoff (BW&BK), acredita que tudo foi conseqüência de uma série de fatores, incluindo a questão de sua opção sexual, o fato de que por longo tempo você teve que esconder do público e também algo relativo a letras de músicas, já que ele acredita que com FIGHT, TWO e HALFORD, você foi capaz de mudar algumas coisas sobre temas adultos. Ele ainda afirmou: 'eu supeitaria que é o mesmo caso com Bruce saindo do IRON MAIDEN.' Qual seria sua resposta a Martin?
Halford: "Bom, Bruce não saiu do Maiden porque ele era gay! [brincando, Rob ri]. Mas, essa é a minha resposta para as observações de Martin sobre minha sexualidade. Você deve saber que isso não tem nada a ver com o caso de minha saída do Priest. A única razão pela qual eu saí, bom, você sabe como é a história... Nunca foi minha intenção, eu nunca quis sair do Priest. Foi o fato de que estava numa situação contratual horrível que me forçou a me afastar do contrato com a Sony e foi quando a coisa atingiu seu ápice, pra ser sincero. Mas o Martin acertou em outras coisas.
Pergunta: Sobre os temas adultos?
Halford: "Sim, quero dizer, Priest nunca foi e nunca será um tipo de banda ligada em política, nunca foi um RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE ou nada do tipo. Então aquilo era uma oportunidade como letrista para escrever coisas, você sabe, 'War Of Worlds'... era algo que eu não fazia quando estava no Priest. Investi emocionalmente nisso. Fiz um conteúdo ambíguo com letras que na minha opinião, remetem a situações que ocorrem ao nosso redor. Isso não é o Judas Priest. As letras do Priest remetem ao "escapismo", fantasia e não são baseadas na realidade. A não ser que você considere canções como "Living After Midnight" e "You Got Another Thing Coming"... O mais perto que já chegamos de algo parecido foi em "Breaking The Law". Estou curioso em saber o que os outros têm a dizer pois quando saí, pelo visto afetei mais pessoas do que imaginei."

Vocalista do Evanescence em acústico com Korn
O grupo Korn lançará um CD acústico no dia 27 fevereiro do ano que vem. A banda, referência do nu-metal, irá participar do projeto Acústico MTV da emissora norte-americana.
A gravação do programa está programada para acontecer neste sábado nos estúdios da MTV. A banda, conhecida pelos riffs pesados e guitarras distorcidas, fará parcerias com The Cure, Chester Bennington, do Linkin Park e a vocalista Amy Lee, do Evanescence, nesta versão acústica de seu show. Os bastidores da apresentação também serão registrados e devem integrar os "extras" do DVD.
O grupo, liderado por Jonathan Davis, fez um projeto semelhante no começo deste ano para um site norte-americano. O CD MTV Unplugged: Korn será dirigido por Alex Coletti.

O caso, publicado - com bom humor - pela imprensa internacional, ocorreu na casa de um amigo de Liam. O roqueiro estava dormindo e acordou se sentindo estranho. Ao se virar, viu o próprio corpo deitado na cama.
Em seguida, sentindo-se novamente "encarnado", sentiu uma presença no quarto e não teve dúvidas: era o ídolo John Lennon.
Além de emprestar a voz para sucessos como Supersonic, Liam coleciona um histórico de bebedeiras e consumo elevado de drogas.

The Gods don `t seem to be good with GOREFEST when it comes to touring. Again there will be no live shows by the Dutch guys.

Metallysee Agency has shortly announced the cancellation of this year`s X-MASS FESTIVALS. This concerns not only Dutch Death Metal legend GOREFEST who have quite a history with cancelled tours now, but also BELPHEGOR.

GOREFEST-guitarist Frank Harthoorn explains:"Ever since SIX FEET UNDER pulled out of this tour a couple of months ago, this has been a bit of an ongoing mess. We thought we'd stick with the plan, since this would be about the last chance to do some proper touring for “La Muerte” before we hit the studio for the next album. When we heard that headliner TRAIL OF TEARS split up last week, we already kind of felt this one slipping away, so we suggested to Metallysee we'd head out with a couple of the remaining bands. You know, join forces, cut prices, split the difference and what-not. Metallysee, however, wasn't having any of that, so come the end of 2006 we're looking at three cancelled tours, about 50 cancelled gigs, all within 11 months. That's something, isn't it? Almost looks like that curse Dani Filth put on us back in '94 is finally kicking in. Oh well, worse things happen at sea, I guess. Thankfully, Ed [Warby, drums] and Boudewijn [Vincent Bonebakker, guitar] have come up with some frightfully heavy shit for us to play with. They even wrote some songs as well, so for the next months, we'll be throwing riffs, fills, leads and, well, stuff at each other."

IN AETERNUM has just recorded a new mcd titled "Curse Of Devastation" at ABYSS STUDIOS together with Tommy Tägtgren. It will be released on our new label PULVERISED RECORDS early 2007. We are also in the planning stages for touring during spring 2007. Expect no mercy in the name of SATAN.

Concerning their break up with Agonia Records In Aeternum has posted the following statement on their homepage:
In Aeternum leaves Agonia Records. Since the release of the DAWN OF A NEW AEON album things have gone from bad to worse with Agonia Records. No royalty payments have been made at all during the 18 months that has passed since the release date of the album. We have tried to get what is rightfully ours since February 2006 without any luck so far. We have saved all the email correspondance since February 2006 concerning this matter. So whatever comes out of Agonia Records concerning this matter we have all the proof to prove him wrong with these emails. However we are not interested in wasting anymore time on Agonia Records. So this is our final statement about this.

After the release of the highly acclaimed "Casus Luciferi" album in 2003 and the tour with DISSECTION in 2004, WATAIN has been forging and wielding material that clearly reveals their true potential as craftsmen of lethal black metal magic. The recording of the album will take place at the infamous Necromorbus Studio (FUNERAL MIST, MALIGN, OFERMOD, etc).

THE BERZERKER

Australian grind deviants THE BERZERKER have announced a limited edition version of the upcoming album "Animosity", which includes a free bonus live CD recorded on the recent U.K. headline tour.

The band's live set at London's Dome on December 16, 2006 was captured live by Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR) and will be issued on initial pressings only of the brand new album due February 12.

The bonus disc features 20 tracks and runs for an hour, and includes the band's infamous MORBID ANGEL and CARCASS covers, as well as brand new cut "Heavily Medicated".

"Louise Jury of the U.K.'s The Independent reports that "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp is being lined up to play a rock star for real in a biopic of the late QUEEN frontman Freddie Mercury.

Robert de Niro's company, Tribeca Productions, is said to be behind the project, which Brian May, the QUEEN guitarist, confirmed was in development. "Discussions are at an early stage," he said on his web site.

May described Depp as "fantastic." "He would be a worthy counterpart for Freddie on screen. I don't think I can say any more right now," he added.

De Niro has known Brian May and QUEEN's drummer, Roger Taylor, since they met at the Venice Film Festival in 1996 and ploughed his own money into their hit stage musical, "We Will Rock You". The musical was originally going to be about the band but the surviving members decided that would be too embarrassing for all involved.

The proposed biopic would tell the life story of Mercury, who was born in Zanzibar in 1946 and died from complications of AIDS in 1991, the day after confirming he had the disease.

His real name was Farrokh Bulsara but he adopted the name he was best known by at school in India, where he grew up. His family settled in England when he was in his teens. He performed with several bands before co-founding QUEEN in 1971."

The first tone goes to tape on December 27, and the CD will be wrapped up before the live dates in California in mid-January. "[We are] forging some strange, noisy psychedelic territory that is pretty disturbing," guitarist and singer Steve Von Till recently told MTV.com.
