BLOTTED SCIENCE To Record New EP

Instrumental extreme metal triumvirate BLOTTED SCIENCE, featuring guitarist Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK, MARTY FRIEDMAN), bassist Alex Webster (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL) and drummer Hannes Grossmann (NECROPHAGIST, OBSCURA), is preparing to enter the studio to begin recording a new EP, "The Animation Of Entomology", for a tentative late 2011 release.

Commented Jarzombek: "This concept started to take shape in June of '08 when BLOTTED SCIENCE got together for the first time to rehearse and threw ideas around for a second CD. We wanted to score some kind of creepy horror film, and so something was definitely abuzz…

"The idea of writing music that syncs up perfectly with clips of disgusting insects and other creepy creatures was set in motion.

"After working with close to a dozen movie clips, it became apparent that to do a full-length CD, it would take far too long to complete. You need to take in the fact that we are writing exclusively with a 12-tone system 100% of the time, so things get very detailed, nitpicky and restricted. On the timing side of things... counts, measures, time signatures and note subdivisions also now have to conform to frames per second and more importantly match and coincide with what is onscreen. Throw out any semblance of verses and choruses too while you're at it. Rather than have musical sections last a series of measures, some full sections now last just a few counts.

"I've scored music to film before with SPASTIC INK's 'A Wild Hare' and 'The Cereal Mouse', and Alex and I have written with a specific 12-tone system on the first BLOTTED SCIENCE CD, 'The Machinations Of Dementia', but putting these two together has been brutally intense.

"Will all of this be too much for fans to take in? We shall see… literally…

"The EP entitled 'The Animation Of Entomology' will contain seven new BLOTTED SCIENCE songs, and will be approximately 24 minutes long.

"Hannes will be going into Woodshed Studios in Landshut, Germany on January 31, 2011, with V. Santura (DARK FORTRESS, TRIPTYKON) engineering, and is now preparing for the session. Alex is recording his bass tracks at his Hell Whole Studios in Tampa, and I am locked away in my Live Oak Studios here in San Antonio.

"If all goes well, we should have everything recorded in a few months."

Acabei agora mesmo de saber! Tenho de ir! Com Slayer e Megadeth, mais Manowar e depois o Barroselas...vai ser mesmo complicado!

AMON AMARTH: New Album Cover Art, Track Listing Revealed

Swedish Viking metalles AMON AMARTH will release their eighth studio album, "Surtur Rising", in North America on March 29 via Metal Blade Records. Named in tribute to Surtur, leader of the fire giants of Muspelheim ("flame land") and the oldest being in the nine worlds of Norse mythology, the record, which was listed among Decibel magazine's most anticipated albums of 2011, features 10 tracks of sword-wielding, fist-pumping, hyper climactic battle anthems. The follow-up to 2008's monolithic "Twilight Of The Thunder God" full-length was recorded again at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren and features strikingly brutal cover art by Tom Thiel.

"Surtur Rising" track listing:

01. War of the Gods
02. Töck's Taunt - Loke's Treachery Part II
03. Destroyer of the Universe
04. Slaves of Fear
05. Live Without Regrets
06. The Last Stand of Frej
07. For Victory or Death
08. Wrath of the Norsemen
09. A Beast Am I
10. Doom Over Dead Man

AMON AMARTH's seventh full-length album, "Twilight of the Thunder God", sold more than 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Twilight of the Thunder God" was recorded at Fascination Street and features several high-profile guest appearances including ENTOMBED singer L.G. Petrov (on "Guardians of Asgaard"), CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist Roope Latvala (who shreds a fierce solo on the track "Twilight of the Thunder God") and Finnish cello metal band APOCALYPTICA (a guest appearance on "Live For The Kill").
