Metallica, Bon Jovi, AC/DC Among Top Five Tour Draws

Ethan Miller/Getty Images
Metallica, Bon Jovi and AC/DC rule the worldwide concert scene. The trade magazine Pollstar reported that Bon Jovi sold $201.1 million worth of tickets this past year, a figure split evenly between North American and the rest of the planet. That figure made them the top touring draw in the world. AC/DC placed second, while U2 landed in the third slot. The number four slot went to Lady Gaga, the only non-rock act in the top five. She was followed by Metallica, who raked in $110.1 million from 60 shows overseas.

Interestingly, Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Metallica did not tour on new albums. Bon Jovi's most recent album came out in 2009, while Metallica and AC/DC haven't released new material since 2008. Fans are clearly turning out in droves to hear catalog material from these long-running acts.

Whatever the case, Noisecreep is stoked that four out of five of the top-drawing concert acts were rock 'n' rollers.

Rob Zombie Launches Coffee Line

The illustrious man of horror -- both in film and rock -- is known for many things, but now Rob Zombie wants to add coffee to his repertoire. As such, he's selling his own Hellbilly line of beans.

"What can I say? I f---ing love coffee," Zombie told Noisecreep. "I started drinking this magic drink when I was a little kid and never stopped. So that's the reason I now have my own Hellbilly brew; 24/7, cranked on black gold! Hell yeah, let's go!" With green coffee beans now at a value higher than ever before, we can all call our morning cups liquid gold.

Right now, Hellbilly's whole roasted beans can be ordered through Zombie's website with two different styles available: a French blend and a Peruvian. Both are certified 100 percent organic.

The French roast promises on first sip to have a "surprising characteristic that you'll notice when you purchase whole beans -- a hint of speckle." Blended from various roasts, the Hellbilly French Roast goes for a more complex taste than just hitting the second temperature crack that makes French roasts the darkest of coffees to begin your day with.

The Peruvian beans hold to the medium-bodied style and fruit finish that are synonymous with the coffee cultivated in the areas reaching from the tips of the Andes to the moist and breezy forests of the Amazon Basin.

Scheduled to be shipping now, Hellbilly coffee would make a great belated holiday gift for your closest coffee fiend.

Phil Campbell Miffed About 'Lemmy' Documentary

There's a bit of drama afoot in the Motörhead camp, as guitarist Phil Campbell has expressed his distaste for the documentary 'Lemmy,' which focuses on vocalist/bassist Lemmy Kilmister and his life story/work.

The doc, fully titled 'Lemmy: Lemmy: 49% Motherf---er 51% Son of a B----,' is slated for a theatrical run this January, followed by a DVD release in February. According to RadioMetal.com, Campbell said he is "pissed off" that the doc revolves squarely around Lemmy, despite the fact that the filmmakers followed the entire band around for three years.

"The biggest shot they got of me is laying down to sleep in the bus with 'Family Guy' on the TV," Campbell also said. "The movie's about Lem, but it's really insulting to us. What a bunch of c---s."

It sounds like Campbell may be a little aggravated and a little amused all at once. You never can tell if the Brits are serious or not, with their cheeky senses of humor.

Nevertheless, we saw the doc this past March at South by Southwest, and it was engrossing. If you get a chance to see it and you consider yourself a self-respecting metalhead, don't pass up the opportunity.

Misfits: "o satanismo de Glenn me incomoda", diz Jerry Only

Eric Blair, do programa "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show", entrevistou Jerry Only, do MISFITS, em 13 de novembro de 2010, no Galaxy Theatre, em Santa Ana, Califórnia.

Sobre o novo álbum, "The Devil's Rain":

Heavy Metal 2011: Looking Forward
Imagem

Sure, 2010 was the year of metal dreams come true -- especially the Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax) burying all their weapons to tour overseas this year -- but what we're looking forward to is that tour finally hitting the States in 2011. It's already been confirmed that the thrash legends are headlining Sonisphere festival in the UK this coming summer with a tour surrounding it, so there should be nothing holding back an announcement of US dates at this point. But until then, we're just going to have to wait.

This year, the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray rocked the metal world, and until the recent announcement of European festival dates, like Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium in June, UK's Sonisphere in July and Brazil's Rock in Rio in September, there was no clue about whether the band members were going to hang up their masks due to the loss of their longtime friend and fellow founding member. There's still no concrete answer as to who will take Gray's place on stage and if that person will actually join the band or act as a touring bassist hanging back in the shadows. No matter what the situation decided upon, that first performance in 2011 will be the most passionate and hate-filled set from Slipknot that anyone will ever see.

Don't call it a comeback -- or a reunion, for that matter -- because the enigmatic rockers of System of a Down never technically broke up. They just went their separate ways until the demand to take the stage became completely undeniable. The foursome will be doing a complete festival tour in Europe in June, but hopefully we won't have to wait too long for one of hard rock's best live acts to come to a city near us.

After all the drama that came from Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy leaving the band he founded, it's high time for his replacement to be named, as the band is slated to begin recording a new album in January. Guitarist John Petrucci has already said the prog outfit has found its new drummer and is "bursting at the seams" to let us all know. Whoever has been chosen to man the kit has big shoes to fill. Taking the place held by one of metal's best drummers is not going to be an easy transition for the band or the fans.

It seems bittersweet, but we're looking forward to seeing the iconic Judas Priest next year. Nothing compares to seeing metal beasts Rob Halford and company laying stages to waste, but it'll be tough since this is going to be Priest's last tour. With members bearing down on 60, this time had to some. So this year we're going to raise the horns and send one of metal's forefathers off in celebration.

There are already a lot of albums speculated to be out next year. With conflicting reports and schedules seemingly being filled quickly with tours, we should be looking forward to these potential records in 2011: Members of Megadeth, Lamb of God and Tool have all commented that writing has begun for their next releases. It's been close to five years since Tool unleashed the hauntingly powerful '10,000 Days' upon us. It seems the time for a new record is near, so now it's a question of the planets and schedules aligning to make it happen.

What we can bet on is new releases from space rockers Cave In, their first full-length since reuniting, the long overdue Joey Belladonna-fronted Anthrax album since 'Worship Music' was shelved, an EP from French technical masters Gorija and the new Devin Townsend release, 'Z2,' which is said to be a musical sequel to his 2007 album 'Ziltoid the Omniscient.'
