// North Dissonant Voices 2016 will take place in Porto, Portugal’s finest underground beacon, CAVE 45, on January 2nd, 2016 and is comprised of five bands, an art exhibition, and the presence of an illustrator and DJs, from noise to death, electro to post.
// NDV has no interest in booking the biggest bands or achieving the biggest crowd, focusing instead on presenting fresh, clear, and uncompromising artists while aiming for a meeting of open-minded people, promoting the exchange of ideas, experiences, and creating something new and unique far behind the music itself.
// North Dissonant Voices strives to become a house for artists whose work is too demanding and exquisite for bigger venues, a place where people can perform and express themselves.

Book release: Fogo Adverso, by Pedro Esteves
Pedro Esteves (b. 1985) studied Graphic Arts at EPVR – Lisbon, started studying Painting at Ar.Co – Lisbon, for three years standard painting course. Since a tender age, Pedro Esteves got interested in drawing and painting, things that would eventually expand to an interest in arts in general. More than an interest, arts have been revealing to be a need to his being, from drawing paths, connecting points, and creating images in his memory to the physical drawing on several supports using several mediums.
Pedro Esteves provides many shapes to his creation without being too ambiguous, yet not castrating others’ vision. “There are many faces inside me,” he says, “and at the same time, all those faces, creatures, landscapes, and people converge at one single point that is common to them all.” So, there is merely one will – to create – and contrary to mankind (in his humble vision of “a nobody”), he does not strife for perfection. Struggling to create., and even if getting enjoyment from his own creation, it is up to the eye of the beholder to criticize or feel with all its senses.

Art exhibition: Gongs & Cymbals, by João Filipe Pais
João Filipe Pais (b. 1980) is a drummer/percussionist and sound sculptor from Porto. His career as a musician is characterized by the approach to a wide range of styles and languages , in bands like Sektor 304, HHY & The Macumbas, Unzen Pilot and Fail Better!, Contained Stone, Radial Chao Opera, and Two White Monsters Around the Round Table, among others, while maintaining regular activity in the world of improvised music, having participated in numerous projects alongside names such as Steve Hubback, Fritz Hauser, Evan Parker, Marcello Magliocchi, Stefano Giust, George Haslam, Carlos “Zingaro,” and Rafael Toral. In addition to his musical journey, João Filipe Pais develops gong construction, cymbals, and other metal percussion instruments, through which he explores the acoustic properties of these objects as their potential sculptural dimension and imagery.

Daniela Alves (b. 1987) completed the Professional Photgraphy Course from the IPF – Portuguese Photography Institute, studied Audiovisual Communication Technology, Image Arts at ESMAE | IPP – School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto and Kaunas Kolegija in Lithuania (IP).
Daniela Alves is a statement herself, raging from the Photography basics onto the Post-Medium Era, she developed several works and associated herself with many other artists. Based in Oporto, counts now with several exhibitions made, such as Vth ([Con]junto, Palacio das Artes – Porto) and lately NIHILITY (Projeto15, Centro Portugues de Fotografia – Porto). She’s the NDV visual creator!
