BEHEMOTH: Die-Hard Collectors' Reissues Due In March

Early demo recordings from Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH — "The Return Of The Northern Moon" and "…From The Pagan Vastlands" — will be released in March by Witching Hour as exclusive collector's LP editions. Both recordings will be available in different color LP versions, as digipack CD and cassette. All releases are strictly limited and will be made available as a special box with extra items. Everything comes with ravamped layout and original artwork.

BEHEMOTH's "Evangelia Heretika" DVD was released in the U.S. on November 9. 2010 via Metal Blade Records, in Poland via Mystic Records, and in the rest of Europe through Nuclear Blast. It contains three discs featuring two full shows ("Live In Paris 2008" and "Live In Warsaw 2009"); every BEHEMOTH music video ever made; "Evangelion" tour documentary featuring band interviews plus tons of backstage footage; and a bonus "Live in Warsaw" audio CD.

SLAYER Recruits EXODUS Guitarist GARY HOLT For Upcoming Tour

SLAYER has recruited Gary Holt (pictured below) from veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS to be SLAYER's guest guitarist, temporary filling in for Jeff Hanneman who is currently recovering from surgery. Holt will immediately join Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums) for their five-date Australian Soundwave Festival tour that begins February 26.

Hanneman underwent emergency surgery on his right arm late last month after contracting a serious infection, possibly caused by a spider bite. He is now recuperating at home and is expected to make a full recovery. He will return to the SLAYER lineup as soon as he has fully recovered.

While Hanneman's doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection's origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis, an infection caused by bacteria. According to WebMD, necrotizing fasciitis can destroy skin, fat, and the tissue covering the muscles. The disease sometimes is called "flesh-eating" bacteria.

"Jeff is our brother, we've all been friends and together as a band for almost 30 years," said Araya, "so we just want him to completely recover as soon as possible."

"After everything that happened last year," King added, "we all agreed that we just can't let our fans down again," referring to Araya's severe back and neck pain that prompted his January 2010 surgery, unfortunately leading to the band's postponement or cancellation of numerous shows in 2009 and 2010. "Jeff is totally on board with this decision, so we will tour as planned. At this point, we can't pinpoint exactly what day he'll be back, but he'll be back as soon as he possibly can. And we can't wait for Jeff to get better and get his ass back on the road."

As previously reported, Boris are prepping a barrage of new releases in the coming months, and the trio have now unveiled details of two upcoming simultaneous records: Attention Please and an all-new Heavy Rocks.

Reinventing themselves yet again, Attention Please is the first album on which all vocals are sung by lead guitarist Wata. Described as “melodic” and “catchy”, this might just be the closest Boris have come to producing a pop record. Heavy Rocks, on the other hand, is described as far heavier, and somewhat confusingly the band have chosen to name the album after their 2002 LP of the same name – essentially paying tribute to themselves in the process. Feast your eyes on the artwork and tracklisting for the LPs below – both are due out on April 26th via Sargent House.
